Lincoln Builds Beautiful Drive

We deliberately drive through the Adirondacks every year when we visit family back in CT. It makes the trip a little longer, but well worth it. Of course last year I got layed-off and didn't have any Medical insurance when we drove through. One of the kids cut their arm and needed stitches. Lucky for us, the doc-in-a-box did it for free - I think he felt bad for our blight. He said not to tell anyone, so I won't say who it was, but will say not only is the… Continue

Darleen March 2008 Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival

Folks, another Marathon full of excitement here in Schroon Lake. Bright sunny day, about 50 degrees when folks started out. Roads were suppose to be closed at 8:45 a.m.; but because of the energy, they closed earlier than expected. Buses lined up, folks on the sidewalk, announcers pl… Continue

Christopher Ohlsen Unemployment rates are up...

And while that may signal to slightly lower rates for a day or two until the next bit of data comes out and rocks the markets; the level of unemployment in this country is unacceptable. Employers nervous about the wobbly economy are agitating the situation. I have read several referendums issued by employers nationwide who indicate that they will not committ to mass hiring until they have some assurances that the recovery of the economy is well under way. Of course we are caught in a bit of a… Continue

Christopher Ohlsen Country Wide is not out of the woods yet!

Country Wide is Back in the News... And this time they have not come out to deny that they are in serious hot water as it seems to be their customary policy. This time it appears to be 100% true. If you haven't read, the CW Giant has just written down more losses it seems that they have found themselves in a siutation in where they owe more debt than they do in value of performing assets! What's worse is that a few of the portfolios of assets that they are counting toward their perforContinue

Christopher Ohlsen How are home sales doing for you?...

From what I hear they are struggling...Not so much for some of my marketing partners but I have been reading articles and blog posts from all around the country lately that have been citing numbers suggesting that sales are down as low as 40% to 50% from the same time last year. The Adirondacks from the very tip near Plattsburgh, NY to The glens falls and Lake George, NY seem to be doing just fine when you compare our output and level of performance with much of the rest of the country. I can n… Continue

Christopher Ohlsen Great Referral From the Park.

I recieved a great referral yesterday. It is for a purchase in Lake Placid. During our first conversation yesterday I asked him "who was the Realtor that sent you". He was not sure because his wife had been dealing with the Realtor (I'll find out today who it is when I speak to him again). He did say that he thinks it was someone from Adirondack Country Homes or Adirondack Country Realty. Well, I'm not sure yet, but if it was any of you I just want to say thank you very much. I appreciate ref
