Folks, another Marathon full of excitement here in Schroon Lake. Bright sunny day, about 50 degrees when folks started out. Roads were suppose to be closed at 8:45 a.m.; but because of the energy, they closed earlier than expected. Buses lined up, folks on the sidewalk, announcers playing music and getting read to shout off the wheelchair racers first, and the masses of runners. Visit the photos for some shots of the starting line-up of runners.
This year's festival has Taiko Japanese and WuLaba African drummers to entertain throughout the day. A pasta dinner was held yesterday for runners and family. "The Spirit of the Marathon", a award winning film will be playing at the Strand Theater, and all the local shops will be open for the public enjoyment
The runners will be going 26 miles, or 385 yards along flat stretches to grinding hills on some of the best scenery in the Adirondacks.
The 5K and 10K Marathons were held September 20th in downtown Chestertown, sponsored by The Helpers Fund. They too had a great sunny day!
