From what I hear they are struggling...Not so much for some of my marketing partners but I have been reading articles and blog posts from all around the country lately that have been citing numbers suggesting that sales are down as low as 40% to 50% from the same time last year.
The Adirondacks from the very tip near Plattsburgh, NY to The glens falls and Lake George, NY seem to be doing just fine when you compare our output and level of performance with much of the rest of the country. I can not speak for everyone because I know that there are some people struggling out there in the mortgage finance world.
I will say however, that between me and one other person whom I work with (Travis Carter) we are putting out 50k+ in a month and we are a small 3 person shop including our phenominal Processor Ali Wilmont.
I have been told by some that it is because of the fact that properties in the Adirondacks are holding value much better tha many other regions around the country. I believe that is true.
Something else that is very true is that in a market like today's marketing has become more important than ever. One thing that you can do which is a huge bang for your buck (since its free) is create a website for every single one of your listed properties and automatically send a live feed to a couple of dozen classified ad sites. You can do this by going to www.lakecitymtg.net and clicking on register box on the lower left hand side of the website. You can also login in from the site by clicking on the login box so be sure to save the address in your browser!
